Co-curricular activities

A co-curricular activity essentially takes place outside a typical pen & pencil classroom experience. Our school provides opportunity to the students to develop particular skills and exhibit their non academic abilities. Our cultural programmes are a spectacular showcase to promote development of a balanced, harmonious personality of the students including physical, practical, aesthetic, moral and intellectual aspects.

Recitation, storytelling, handwriting, quiz, Debate etc. Art And craft- postermaking, Rakhi making competition, Sit and draw, Face painting, photography, clay modeling etc.

Dance- Indian classical, Folk, western, contemporary Music- Classical, folk, rabindra sangeet, western, instruments – guitar, table, octopad, keyboard drums etc.

Annual function and exhibition.

Celebratours like Saraswati puja, Ganesh puja, Observing national festival.

Art & Craft

The imagination of the young buds of our school is guided and reshaped in the department of Art & crafts. Central Model School, B&P maintains a splendid art room with the finest equipments. Our art and craft teachers have enabled the students to learn various forms of creative art like clay modeling, sand painting, artificial Bonsai, mask making, Rakhi making etc.
Besides this students of also participate in drawing and poster competitions
Painting – Finger painting, oil painting, glass painting, marble painting.
Craft activities – face masks, soft toys, clay modeling, pottery etc.

Music

Music is an integral part of our curriculum. Our school emphasizes on imparting appropriate music lesson in classical, folka instrumental as well as western genres. Our music teachers give music lessons to our students, once in a week to foster emotional and practical maturity, personal and intellectual development among students.

Club

Language club, Science club, Eco club, Music club, sports club, quiz club, Maths club are the added features of our esteemed institution.
Club activities teach pupils to coordinate, cooperate and adjust with each other in varied situations and developing their leadership qualities.

Besides training of intellect, the school lays stress on sound health of the students. Physical exercises and games are compulsory so that students enjoy good health and sound mind. Sxercises like P. T., Yoga, aerobics, and jogging are practiced. The students play the games like volley Ball, Badminton, throw ball, football, kho-kho, cricket and table tennis regularly. The students are trained in various games and sports by the qualified coaches employed by the school. In order to spot the talent in this field, Inter-house games and sports are held during the session. The students are also provided with the opportunity to participate in different level of tournaments.

Excursion

Travelling is a part of education. Keeping this mind children of our school are taken on educational tours each year. Through this a child learns to adjust with other outside their homes.
Value education and life skill: moral values need to be imbibed in young minds in order to create within them a balanced temperament having sympathy love, affection towards all. The school is secular in character band pupils of all religious background feel comfortable in the atmosphere of the school. once week class is provided for value education as this is the utmost need of this hour. This is done by eminent trainers of Ramakrishna Mission etc. CBSS stresses this program in order to create a holistic development of the child.

Service to Society

Each year on 10th September, to commemorate the Death Anniversary of Founder – mother of this institution Late Gauri Roy, a blood donation camp is organized, where the localities participate.

Assembly

Morning Assembly is enriched with prayer, pledge, thought of the day, news-reading followed by National Anthem. This provides a platform to the children to develop their self confidence as they play an activate role in the session of the morning assembly.
Dispersal Assembly:
This takes place at the end of the school hour with a note of thanks giving to the Almighty.

yoga

Yoga & Meditation

Flexibility of body and mental peace are some of the key benefits of regular yoga. Yoga is accepted worldwide as one of the most effective form of exercise to influence the mental control. Meditation can help teachers to be calm and confident in dealing with the students. Meditation is also good for children to get over their stress and enhance their learning experience. Yoga & meditation is a mandatory activity at Central Model school, Barrackpore. A qualified yoga trainer imparts basic yoga knowledge for the students.

Houses

To develop team spirit and co-operative nature, house system has been adopted in Central Model School, based on the names of four leaders of our country. Through various competitions a healthy competitive spirit and interaction amongst students is encouraged. The house names with their colours are as follows SHIVAJI – Red,  TAGORE – Yellow,  ASHOKA – Blue,  RAMAN – Green

Each house constitutes:

      • House mistress

Throughout the year, points are awarded to students through games and inter house competitions debate, elocutions, sports etc.
